I just heared on the news that Serbia And Montenegro will play 1 match together, and thats against Holland, after that the Montenegro players go home and it's just Serbia...

Balozi

and why is that? why not serbian players go home and it's montenegro? that's unfair

Well, can the Serb members tell us how many montenegrin players are in that team and are they any good?
I'm worried that if indeed they return home that might reduce serbia's chances fro a run in the mundial....

what i dont understand is why should serbia be left to play and not montenegro

although this could be cause montenegro left the federation, not serbia

As i understand there are 2 players, one is the goalman and one other is spits.. I'll look up the names later today ;)

Balozi, i think the reason is that Serbia has players to continue to play, Montenegro has not at the moment..
Better one team to stay and play then nobody at all..

Interesting, Makeveli can you give me a link of your information.
I read only yesterday where selector Petković said that they will play all games together for all those which feel them like theirs.

If Montenegro is not really a recognized country can it compete in events? Is like the UN and EU and NATO where they have to apply for membership first?

I don't know, but since Montenegro is still in Serbia (legal proceedings for its independence are ongoing), I think they should compete in the FIFA as one country.

Yes they have to apply for a UN seat, but that can take weeks. They also have to form their military, print new passports, set up border security (unless they don't already have them), negotiate with the Serbs. I'd say Montenegro will officially be recognized as independent in about a few months.

I thought I was specific in my quesion about does this sports organization need a country to apply first in order to compete in games.

i think they should participate together just like they qualified together. it would also be good to keep the relations of the two countries friendly

nivbri they can't of course participate in anything as "montenegro" right now

Sports can't keep relations friendly between Montenegro and Serbia. That's nonsense.

No, but economic relations can. And anyways, I thought the Serbian response for the Montenegro independence was much better than what I had expected.

Nivbri, from your point of view the Balkans is doomed the way it is, so no surprise that you cannot find any concilation in anything. Be open-minded, it is not the end of the world.

I think, Serbia & Montenegro should not participate together in the world cup, unless they are planning to lose all along. Anybody thought what would happen if SCG actually won?!

Who get's to keep the cup? :?

i think it would be very good for their relations if they get a good position in the world cup. maybe they will think to have another referendum to re-unite :D

Well, Montenegro hasn't been recognized by the UN as independent yet. So technically, it's still in union with Serbia.

Mark my words, Mexico is a good outsider in the upcoming Mundial. They are capable of going far ,i believe. Ofcourse i dont expect them to win the cup,but they will definitely make a couple of good results;)

England is one of the favourites too

Why do you think so?

I am asking the same question. Montenegro was highly independent before the referendum. Infact, the effects of Montenegro's independence are more symbolic than anything.
