Hey guys, I've been thinking we could share in this thread all kind of favourite songs from Balkan countries what we have.

Well that's the point! You don't need to know them, you can download them and see maybe you'll like and then you share with us Albanian and what other Balkan music you have and like. That's the whole point of this thread.:)

Go to http://www.megaupload.com in upper right corner there is "select file to send", from there you go to your files and find song which you want to upload, then in down right corner there is "Please enter a meaningful file description" where you can write artist name and song title, select "I accept the terms" and click on send.

It takes awhile,to me less than a minute, depends on a connection.After it's complete you'll see in upper right corner address where your file is, click on it and copy-paste that address here.

Actually that song is not very happy, more like sad but music is more powerful, it's not in ballad style. Many songs from ex-Yu are not really happy-go get them champ, but they have different music, more fast than slow.

Amin this is not bad idea. I asked already if we would be able download mp3 music in new site. But if I can judge on Balozi's answer, I guess, ehm :whistling , we won't. Othervise I think that today most of us use some p2p client to download the music and stuff. It is much easier. So if you ask me you can just name and reccomend the song you like and it is worth of downloading. But you can do this way too, I don't mind.:victory:


And I wanted to ask if that song of Peggy Zina, is that one which has the same music as Serbian Nataša Bekvalac "Ponovo"??? I know there is one, I'm not sure if that is.

it's a good idea, but it's too time consuming. How about this, everyone describes the most famous bands of his/her own country and maybe provide a link for download from some sites.

one such sites is www.nostalgija.com -there are 12-13000 songs from the old yu republics.

as for macedonian music, this is the best:

studeni noze - punk band. it doesn't exist for more than a decade, but their funny and sarcastic music deserves respect. one of my favourites. similar to them is risto bombata.


arhangel - probably the best macedonian rock band. i don't know if they still make music, but their past albums are great. a little dark, but great.

mizar - they have this weird mix. i'm not a music expert, but to me it sounds like rock with etno and church music influences. very, very, VERY dark but good music.

non stop - commercial rock. very good music. if these guys were in the states they would be mega stars because they make rock for the masses. it used to be a mixed albanian-macedonian band but they separated and the lead singer Beni (an albanian) kept the name.
they make music in macedonian, albanian and english.

area - very good commercial rock with a female lead singer.

toshe proevski - a pop singer. i don't like him, but he is our biggest export and probably the only singer with a superstar status in macedonia. some of his fans (mostly female) are ready to die for him

saf - the best macedonian rap group.

karolina - after toshe proevski, the best pop singer. As for other pop singers the best are Kaliopi, Elena Ristevska....and other similar. I don't really like them. they all sound similar(except Kaliopi), but still pop is the most widely spread music in Macedonia.

There are about 40.000 songs from the ex-yu republics
There are tons of iritating commercials at the begining, but once you get started they dissapear.

Even though the site is mostly folk, turbo folk, pop and rock, for all you rap fans, there are couple of macedonian rap albums i highly recommend.

All you need to do is go to the macedonian section, and then find the group and the albums by the first letter.
I recommend:

C - Cista okolina (Noviot aspekt na starata skola).

This album is the ultimate achievement of the old school movement in macedonia which ended later then in the states (about 1997). This album is about 10 years old or older. If you don't have the time to download the whole album, just download the song puzder 2. it's my all time favorite rap song, and if you know a better one, please tell me where i can find it.

Another must is-
S - SAF (Safizam)

This is probably the best macedonian rap group, eventhough they are not active at the moment, The album is 6 years old, but some of the songs are from as early as 1995. favourite songs - Revolucionerot, Skopska situacija, Safra, Race Gore...

I only vaguelly remember them, i think that the group consists of both macedonians and bulgarians.
Or am i talking about some other group?
I remember a few years ago some bulgarians calling themselves Napushenite Cickovci made a few songs with a rap group from Shtip called Caldisani. They named their temporary combination Timot Dim. Do you know anything about these guys?

Well, as i said it was called Timot Dim and the songs were both in bulgarian and macedonian. I had them on tape, so it was a long time ago. However, the songs were pretty damn good.

Yes, that's them. They are good but it's unfortunate that rap is still considered underground in Macedonia, apart from some sissy rapers like Vrcak and Daskal. Apart from guys like them, they rarely play rap on Tv or radio.

I've seen the site, Klan Istok become quite popular here with their song "Od Skopje do Sofia" and then performed alongside Wu-Tang clan in their concert here. I've heard Edinstvena opcija and SAF, both have good stuff, but Klan Istok are better if you ask me.

well, i've been out of touch with rap the last three years. But i agree, the song Od Skopje Do Sofija is very good. Try to find RNS (rabotam na slucajot). They are actually very good, their songs sound fresh and funny (but in a good way).

If you don't listen exclusively to rap go to www.radiomk.com and download their songs. They are a very good Ska-Punk band with Latino and Reggae influences. tell me what you think.

I don't listen much of him, but "Poznaces me i po mraku" is a classic, "Ostaricu, necu znatI" is also good, and these two "Kako mi nedostajes" and his duet with Zeljko Joksimovic "Sta ce meni vise od toga".
All of these you can find on youtube, except last one which video I can't find anywhere and I saw it million times on tv.
