Thousands of musicians play Balkan music outside the Balkans. Most of them are not of Balkan ancestry and fell in love with a tradition not their own. If you're one of them and have a Web site, or are already on the list and have a new URL, send e-mail to band@balkanarama.com and I'll update the directory.

When it comes to knowledge of Balkan music outside of the balkans it is almost exclusively limited to the following:
- Knowledge of turbofolk due to it's international known notorierity (mainly because of it's connections to Serbian criminals like Arkan).
- Severina (the sex tape)
- Laibach (Slovenian experimental group known for being a large inspiration on the popular German band Rammstein)
- Balkana (a CD of bulgarian music largely done by Trio Bulgarka, I've seen it being sold HMV stores in Canada)
- Bijelo Dugme (since there reunion concerts in 2005 were mentioned in a lot of western media)

Kultur Shock - these guys are pretty good, yet not popular in Europe at all.
Kultur Shock isn't just the name of our band. It's Balkan punk rock gypsy metal wedding-meets-riot music from Bulgaria, the US, Japan, and Bosnia.

I also forgot to mention Trumpet Music from Serbia. This has recently started to be recognized internationally due to the films of Emir Kusturica and the Guca trumpet festival being voted top international festival by an English party site and being featured in a documentary made by Kiera Chaplin.
