TIRANA, Albania (AFX) - The Albanian government on Monday launched a euro40 million (US$51.3 million) international tender for a new terminal and other work at its main western port of Durres, the Transport Ministry reported.
The project in Durres, 33 kilometers (20 miles) west of Tirana, which is funded by a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Bank for Investment, will start in early 2007, according to a statement.
A new terminal is planned with annual capacity of one million passengers.
Durres is Albania's main entrance for commerce and passengers.
