Serbia to become WTO member in 2008
Belgrade/Geneva, Dec 5, 2006 - Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations Milan Parivodic said that after the talks with Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Pascal Lamy in Geneva it was agreed that Serbia should become a WTO member in 2008.
In a telephone statement to Tanjug news agency, Parivodic said that Lamy follows the situation in Serbia and believes that Serbia is making very good progress.
According to Parivodic, Lamy said that after the third round of negotiations that will be held tomorrow, Serbia will be given a so-called facts resume in which the entire Serbian international trade system will be summarised.
Parivodic, who is in Geneva conducting talks on Serbia's accession to WTO, said that the WTO Director-General believes that all constructive efforts coming from Serbia should be supported.
