our family originates from jalalabad region but most of afghanistan practices sufiism. we are in the sunni faith and sufiism isnt a seprate form of islam. people usually get confused because of the taliban agenda lol, but apart from the minoroty wahabism that was introduced to us during the vacum that was left after the soviet war most of the taliban even practised it. it was just those who were near and dear to the specific backed warlords by the saudis whiich couldnt tolerate it.

and sicne the sunnis are in the majoraty in afghanistan there is not much conflict at all.:D to be honest im for all muslims shia sunni makes no diffrence tome yes we do vary in ideology but we should all sticktogether as one ummah. what evr is right or wrong between us we should not judge that for allah to do. as part of the way we practice religion we are tought that when you meet any obne new hold him in higer regard than ur self beacuse you dont know how allah regards that person compared to you ;)

my only qualm is with wahabism which is summit i dont like :angry019:

your part of the world was under ottoman rule and the form of islam that they had was absolutely beautifull pure sufism. there are many schools of thought in sufism but the essential goal is to become closer to allah. most of the caucases carry out the naqshbandi practices.

but what we dont concider sufism is when you get non muslims taking the name and mxing and matching it around with other concepts like you get in the west now days. the bootom line being u can only call ur self a sufi if you are a muslim and adhere to the laws of the sharia.

It was reported that Imam Malik once said: ‘He who practice tasawuf (sufism) without learning shari’a corrupts his deen (faith), while he who learns shari’a without practicing tasawuf corrupts himself. Only he who combines the two proves true.’

from the above quote you can see why i im not too fond of wahabism because they do thesharia but not the tasawuf. in other words they have turned islam in to a set of rules and regulations instead of something which is so much more and deeeper :)

i follow the Qadiriyyah order myself and i have heared of sheikh Nazim how can you not have ;) he is a sweet dude and he has some beautifull teachings :)

as for the Bektashi i know that they originate from turkey and that they havesome bith "sunn" and "shia" lineages but to be honest i dont know too much about them but now that you have mentioned hem im looking more and more in to it lol.

but i like the naqsbandis alot i like their zhikir methods absolutely awesome :)
