PODGORICA -- Slovenian Petrol is interested in building a power plant in Montenegro.
One option is the Buk Bijela damn, which is on the border of Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina, said president of the Slovenian Company’s Administration Marko Križanovski.
“We discussed that with the relevant ministries and Montenegro-bonus because this is the location where we can invest the amount that we want. There are not many places where we would be able to make an electric plant of 40 or 60 megawatts.” Križanovski told Montenegrin daily Vijesti.
A protocol for cooperation between Petrol and Montenegro-bonus was signed in September, and the building of an electric plant is planned. The Montenegrin Government signed an agreement with the Republic of Srpska two years ago for building an electric plant at Buk Bijela, which ecologists, UNESCO and other environmentalists have opposed, and the project has been postponed.
